Quelling the inner bitch

Daily writing prompt
What do you wish you could do more every day?

Have to say, I was surprised by the number of people who don’t have an inner voice. And then there’s others like myself that have one and sometimes it’s a negative Nancy just waiting to say something about the, what I am doing or not doing. Of course this is one of the many reasons I lead a spiritual life because someone has to be in control of that voice.

I actually love having an internal monologue especially with the amount of time I spend alone. I can sit anywhere and talk and talk without anyone have any awareness of it. But enter depression or anger or any of the delightful ways we are human and that voice can make you feel like shit if you’re not careful or don’t have self awareness about what thought can do to you.

The old saying ” the devil made me do it” is a fine example. One could consider it a thought experiment, what would happen if I didn’t let the bitch out every day. If I could reach inside my head and slap her upside the face, you know teach her who’s boss, lol!

That voice in us becomes a habit as sure as the glass of wine. Something we do without thinking about it too much. But the fallout is something to pay attention to. So I work hard at quelling that bitch because I don’t want that voice to be the creator of the narrative of my days weeks months and years. Walk through any public space and look at faces and you will see what happens if you are not in charge of your thoughts or thinking. So much bitterness!

Lots of theories on who is the voice or where the voice comes from, but instilling a speaker to the still small voice of creator is a help that can’t be understated. Beating yourself up because your life is not where you want it, or you are not where you think you should be, is a constant drag upon your self esteem.

It’s just a fact my inner bitch doesn’t know what’s she’s talking about so why listen! And until we get it, its a constant fight and one I’d rather not fight everyday!

  1. I always self-shamed myself for having the loudest, craziest inner voice of all. It never shuts up. When I’m portraying my characters, I’m compelled to resort to ‘thought bubbles’ to convey innervoices. Dee Tezelli, author of 24+eBooks/Paperbacks on Amazon Kindle books.com
